What it does

A web editor, made desktop.

Peashell wraps the hosted Photopea editor in its own window and adds the native conveniences a browser tab can't — real dialogs, save-in-place, file associations, and local AI.

01

Native file dialogs

Open, Save, Save As, and Export use real Windows and macOS dialogs. Save overwrites the original file in place; Export writes a clean PNG, JPG, WEBP, or SVG copy.

02

On-device AI menu

Upscale, remove background, and straighten angled photos run entirely on your own machine. Nothing is uploaded — each result opens as its own clearly named tab.

03

Always-current canvas

The editor is hosted Photopea, so you always work in the current version with no separate install or update step. Peashell keeps the desktop shell around it.

// peashell.files

Built to behave like a real app.

Launch straight into the canvas, double-click a PNG to open it as a new tab in the single running window, and keep your recent files a right-click away.

  • PNG file association opens into one tabbed window, never a new instance
  • Recent files, tab list, and reveal-in-folder from the native toolbar
  • Revert-to-saved reloads a tab from disk while keeping Save on target
// peashell.ai

Local, private, and yours.

The AI tools process pixels on your own hardware — and tell you plainly when your machine can't run one, pointing you to a fallback instead of failing quietly.

  • AI and Lanczos upscale, with a no-GPU path that works anywhere
  • Background removal and perspective Straighten & Crop, all local
  • Portable build with a low-surface update notice — no installer

A desktop home for Photopea.

Run the editor you already know in its own window, save to disk for real, and keep your image processing on your own machine.
